Medialets: Changing the mobile ad space

What is one device that everyone has? It’s not a TV, not a computer, or not even a laundry machine (me). But we all got cellphones. More and more of us are getting iPhones too, and with the development of open-source Android, the possibilities are endless.

Enter Eric Litman and Rana Sobhany, rockstars and media pioneers. They are behind the new Medialets project, which will allow developers to take advantage of ads on the new iPhone 2.0 platform.

Some people hate ads, especially on something as personal as a phone, but I think these apps will be seamless and unobtrusive.

As a developer or ad provider, you can use Medialets’ tracking an analytics to see how your tap-throughs are going. Think of it as DoubleClick for the iPhone.

What do you think? Hopefully Medialets will not sway you to opt-out of iPhone apps because they are cluttered with ads. These guys know how to make great products, so I have no fear.

I normally don’t mind ads. If it supports the company and lets me get their content for free, I’m for it. The only issue is how intrusive are these ads going to be on my tiny screen? They look pretty small in the image, but we shall see.

I agree with Kevin above, but this can be a great source of revenue for certain marketers.
